“My story - Dr. John Dawson

I was first introduced to the CFR technique by a colleague and our locum at the time, chiropractor,  Dr. Kurt Brooks.  He had learnt the technique from the originator of Bilateral Nasal Specific, Dr. Richard Stober.

Kurt noticed that I breathed somewhat nasally and that my breathing sounded laboured.  At night, although I didn’t snore, I was often mouth breathing.  This caused such a dry mouth and I needed to drink water through the night. My sleep was generally of poor quality and interrupted, and I woke with low energy which persisted throughout the day.

When I initially had this technique performed on me Kurt noticed and I was aware that my sutures were really restricted.  Ideally the balloon inflates into the nasal pharynx but it took us several sessions over a couple weeks before that occurred.  I was aware of past trauma that had likely contributed to my limited cranial movement so it was not surprising that I needed a course of treatment to improve.

The procedure was uncomfortable those first couple of sessions but that soon changed.  I was determined to give myself the best opportunity to benefit from this procedure, so I was committed to following Kurt’s recommendations. During the initial sessions,  I heard clicks, one of my ears popped and I felt movement in the roof of my mouth. I experienced some post treatment soreness specifically along the palatine suture that lasted for a couple days.  However, after going through the full CFR protocol, I noticed an astonishing improvement in my ability to breathe well. The quality of my sleep, and my energy levels improved. I had less brain fog, and more relaxed breathing with exercise.

Mouth breathing at night was my default setting so after having this procedure I was able to begin nasal breathing more often and make that my reset default breathing. What an incredible difference this has made to my health on so many levels. Previous to receiving this endonasal balloon technique I also suffered with asthma, requiring hospital nebuliser twice with a couple acute attacks. However within a few short months I no longer required or used medication as my breathing and lungs had completely changed for the better.   Over a longer period of time I noticed more changes and improved functioning. It was easier to equalise my ears and I felt less pressure when flying and experiencing altitude changes.  I got fewer colds and flus. My sense of smell became more sensitive and my voice became less nasal.

The CFR procedure made a massive difference to the quality of my life.”
